The whole set-up is rather complex with many control systems and processors forming the core of the elevator scheme.

Once all requests have been serviced in one direction of a cycle, the elevator will reverse and begin responding to requests in the same manner as before. An elevator that is idle for several minutes will return to the ground, or bottom, floor.
